William McLuskie :: Chief Instructor

William is the Chief Instructor of Water Oak Aikikai. He is a Rokudan (6th Degree Black Belt) and a Shidoin (Certified Senior Instructor and Examiner). These were both issued by Ueshiba Doshu and Y. Yamada Shihan through the Aikido Hombu Dojo in Japan, the International Aikido Federation and the United States Aikido Federation.

William is responsible for all instruction and testing at Water Oak Aikikai. He has been studying Aikido since 1994 and has received instruction directly from Moriteru Ueshiba Doshu, Toshimura Tamura Shihan, Yoshimitsu Yamada Shihan, Seiichi Sugano Shihan, Kazuo Chiba Shihan, Mutsunari Kanai Shihan, Fumio Toyoda Shihan, Hayato Osawa Shihan and Suganuma Shihan.

William is the developer of Aiki Cane. Aiki Cane is a self-defense format using a standard walking cane and Aikido principles. He is also an active student of Shindo Muso Ryu Jodo, Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido and ZNKR Iaido.

William has a strong understanding of martial arts and self-defense. As the son of a U.S. Marine he lived on Okinawa, Japan for 10 years.




Brenda McLuskie :: Dojo Cho

Brenda is an Instructor at Water Oak Aikikai teaching in both the Adult and Family programs. She currently holds the rank of Sandan (3rd degree Black Belt) and has a Fukushidoin (USAF Certified Instructor). These were both issued by Ueshiba Doshu and Y. Yamada Shihan through the Aikido Hombu Dojo in Japan, the International Aikido Federation and the United States Aikido Federation. She has been studying Aikido since 1996 and has received instruction directly from Yoshimitsu Yamada Shihan, Seiichi Sugano Shihan and Fumio Toyoda Shihan.

In addition to her Aikido training, Brenda is a certified instructor in Hatha Yoga and Raja Yoga. She has also practiced Tae Kwon Do and Tai Chi.

Brenda is a U.S. Army Veteran. During her enlistment she was stationed in Mannheim, Germany and also served in Operation Desert Storm.

Brenda has been teaching swimming to children and adults since she was a teenager and she has taken 30 years of experience from competitive swimming, coaching and teaching to develop a book that provides parents the tools and confidence they need to teach their children to swim.
